Rudy is Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder of Mirron S.r.l and Viantis S.r.l.
He previously served as Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder of Ulisse BioMed, where he led the company’s scientific strategy and product development for over a decade.
At Ulisse BioMed, Rudy played a central role in building the company from inception, raising over €5 million from a broad shareholder base and driving the development of innovative diagnostic platforms based on nanotechnology. He is the lead inventor of multiple patents and has overseen the creation of novel products from early-stage research through to applied solutions, including the development of advanced SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic technologies in collaboration with multinational partners. His scientific work has also been supported by more than €1.5 million in European grants.
Rudy’s expertise spans a wide range of molecular biology domains, including gene therapy, genome editing, viral vector engineering, synthetic biology, high-throughput screening, and transgenic model development. His work sits at the intersection of deep scientific research and commercialization, with a strong focus on translating complex biological systems into scalable healthcare innovations.
He holds a PhD in Molecular Medicine from Scuola Normale Superiore, where he specialized in gene therapy using adeno-associated viral vectors. He also earned a Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Florence and a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Siena.
